CUET eligibility to sit the examination and university eligibility for admission are related—but they are not the same thing.
Basic CUET UG eligibility: candidates who have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination, or who are appearing in the qualifying examination in 2026, may appear for CUET UG 2026. NTA prescribes no age limit for appearing in CUET.
Eligible routes include recognised 10+2 board examinations, Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examinations, qualifying NIOS Senior Secondary study with at least five subjects, and other examinations recognised as equivalent under the official bulletin.
Every participating university can prescribe its own programme-wise subject combination, minimum marks, age condition, reservation, quota and admission rules. A CUET score alone does not override those requirements.

The Common University Entrance Test – Undergraduate (CUET UG) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate programmes in Central Universities and other participating state, deemed, private and government institutions.
