Candidates must fulfill the NCTE and State Education Department prescribed qualifications (D.El.Ed / B.Ed / B.El.Ed) to apply for JTET:

Level-1 / Paper-I (Primary: Classes 1 to 5)

Primary Teacher (PRT) Qualifications

  • Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed / BTC / D.Ed).
  • OR 10+2 with at least 50% marks + 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • OR Graduation with at least 50% marks + 2-year D.El.Ed (passed or appearing in final year).
Level-2 / Paper-II (Upper Primary: Classes 6 to 8)

Upper Primary / Secondary Teacher Qualifications

  • Graduation in relevant discipline + 2-year D.El.Ed or 2-year B.Ed (Bachelor of Education).
  • OR Graduation with minimum 50% marks + 1-year / 2-year B.Ed / B.Ed (Special Education).
  • OR 10+2 with at least 50% marks + 4-year integrated B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.El.Ed.
Important: Age & Minimum Percentage Concessions: 5% relaxation in qualifying marks for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD candidates as per state government rules.

No. Most Teacher Eligibility Tests (TETs) do not have negative marking. Each question carries 1 mark, with 0 deduction for incorrect answers.

What is the qualifying marks percentage in JTET?

Candidates scoring 60% (90 out of 150 marks) in General category and 50% to 55% (75 to 82 marks) in reserved categories are declared qualified.

What is the validity of the TET qualification certificate?
