1. Who we are

TargetExams is an education information portal operated as an initiative of Acesoftech Academy, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. We publish free school syllabus resources, study material, test series, government job alerts and entrance exam preparation content for students, parents and teachers.

For the purposes of applicable data protection law, we are the data fiduciary in respect of the personal information described below.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you give us

We collect personal information only when you choose to provide it, for example when you:

• submit an enquiry or contact form (name, email address, phone number, city, and your message);
• register for a test series or create an account (name, email address, mobile number, class, board and, where relevant, payment reference);
• post a comment, review or feedback on our content;
• subscribe to updates or contact us by email or telephone.

2.2 Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers automatically record technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, the pages you view, the referring page and the date and time of your visit. This information is used in aggregate to keep the website secure, diagnose faults and understand which content is useful.

2.3 Information we do not collect

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as financial account details, biometric data, health data, or government identification numbers. We do not buy personal information from third parties.

We use a small number of cookies that are necessary for the website to function correctly. These include a session cookie that keeps you signed in and a security token cookie that protects forms against cross-site request forgery.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies, and we do not sell advertising profiles of our visitors. Where we process your personal information, we rely on your consent, on the performance of a service you have requested, or on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the website. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us using the details in section 11; withdrawing consent will not affect processing carried out before that date.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers. Trusted vendors who help us run the website (for example our hosting, content delivery, email and cloud image providers) and who are permitted to use your information only to provide those services to us.
• Legal requirements. Where we are required to do so by law, regulation, court order or a lawful request from a competent authority.
• Protection of rights. Where disclosure is necessary to protect the safety, rights or property of TargetExams, our users or the public.

Some of these providers may store or process data outside India. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to receive an appropriate standard of protection.

7. Our social media pages

We publish our own editorial content – such as city-wise guides to CBSE schools in India – to our own official accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn and Pinterest, using the official publishing APIs provided by those platforms and our own internal scheduling tools.

This activity is limited to publishing our own content to our own accounts. We do not access, collect, store or process personal information belonging to users of those platforms, we do not read other people's profiles, posts, boards or pins, and we do not send messages, invitations or automated engagement on behalf of anyone. Your use of those platforms is governed by the privacy policy of the relevant platform.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law. Enquiry and contact records are typically retained for up to three years, and account records for as long as your account remains active. When information is no longer needed we delete it or anonymise it.

9. How we protect your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, secure storage of credentials, and limiting access to staff who need it to perform their duties. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authority of any breach where we are required to do so.

10. Children's privacy

TargetExams publishes educational content that is intended for students, including school students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under the age of 18 without the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Where a test, form or account is intended for a student, a parent or guardian should provide the information and consent on the student's behalf. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without such consent, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date;
• ask us to delete your personal information where there is no continuing lawful reason for us to keep it;
• withdraw your consent to processing, and opt out of any updates or alerts we send you;
• raise a grievance about how we have handled your information.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The revised policy will always be published on this page with a new “last updated” date, and material changes will be highlighted on the website.
