LIC AAO selection is a three-phase process. According to official LIC rules, there is NO negative marking in both Preliminary and Main Examinations.
100 Qs / 60 min (20 min per section). English Language (30 Qs / 30 marks) is qualifying only. Ranking for Mains shortlisting is based on 70 aggregate marks (Quant 35 + Reasoning 35). NO negative marking.
120 Qs / 300 marks / 120 min — Reasoning (30Q / 90M), Data Analysis (30Q / 90M), GK & Current Affairs (30Q / 60M), Insurance & Financial Market Awareness (30Q / 60M). NO negative marking.
Descriptive: 2 Qs (Letter & Essay), 25 marks, 30 min (qualifying, typed on computer). Phase-III Interview carries 60 marks. Final merit is based on Mains Objective (300 marks) + Interview (60 marks).
The Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO Generalist) recruitment is conducted by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). LIC AAO tests Reasoning (35 Qs) and Quantitative Aptitude (35 Qs) for 70 ranking marks in Prelims (English 30 Qs is qualifying). Mains tests Data Analysis (90M), Reasoning (90M), Insurance Awareness (60M), and GK (60M) with zero negative marking. Follow this strategy:
Data Analysis carries 90 out of 300 marks in Mains. Focus heavily on advanced pie charts, bar/line graphs, missing DI, radar DI, and caselets to score maximum marks in 40 minutes.
Insurance & Financial Market Awareness carries 60 marks in Mains. Study history of life insurance in India, IRDAI regulations, LIC products/policies, bancassurance, reinsurance, and current financial market terminology.
Reasoning carries 35 marks in Prelims and 90 marks in Mains. Practise high-level seating arrangements, floor/box puzzles, input-output, and critical reasoning.

The minimum age is 21 years and maximum age is 30 years as on the specified cut-off date (e.g. 01.08.2025). Upper age relaxation applies for OBC (+3 yrs), SC/ST (+5 yrs), PwBD (+10-15 yrs), and LIC employees (+5 yrs).
A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognised Indian University or Institution is required. Candidates in the final year awaiting results are not eligible.
