SBI PO selection is a three-phase process. Preliminary Examination marks are only qualifying and are NOT added to the final merit. Final merit is decided by Phase-II (Main: objective + descriptive) and Phase-III (Group Exercise & Interview), which are normalised to 75 and 25 respectively (out of 100).
Objective: 170 Qs / 200 marks (3 hours) + Descriptive: 3 Qs / 30 marks (30 min). Total 230 marks, normalised to 75.
3 questions, 30 marks, 30 minutes — Email writing (1 of 2), Situation Analysis (1 of 2) and Report or Précis writing (1 of 2). Answers are typed on the computer immediately after the objective test.
Psychometric Test (personality profiling) plus Group Exercise & Interview of 50 marks, normalised to 25. Candidates must qualify Phase-II and Phase-III separately.
The SBI PO 2026-27 recruitment is conducted by the State Bank of India for 1,500 Probationary Officer vacancies. Selection is a three-phase process: Phase-I Preliminary Examination (objective, qualifying only), Phase-II Main Examination (objective + descriptive) and Phase-III (Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview). The Main Examination of September 2026 is currently in progress and its call letters are being issued by SBI.
Eligibility for SBI PO 2026-27 is specific to the Probationary Officer post (Advertisement CRPD/PO/2026-27/09) and is not the same as Clerk, IBPS or RBI norms:

SBI PO Prelims now carries 40 English, 30 Quantitative Aptitude and 30 Reasoning questions (20 minutes each). The Mains has four sectional objective tests plus a typed Descriptive (Communication Skills) paper. Prepare section-wise:
For the 30 Quantitative Aptitude questions in Prelims and the 30 Data Analysis & Interpretation questions in Mains (60 marks, 45 minutes), master tables, bar/line/pie charts and caselets along with simplification, quadratic equations and arithmetic.
Mains Reasoning & Computer Aptitude is 40 questions for 60 marks in 50 minutes. Solve puzzles, seating arrangements and logical reasoning daily and revise computer-awareness basics.
English is 40 questions in Prelims and 40 questions (20 marks) in Mains. Build speed on reading comprehension, cloze tests, error spotting and para jumbles through daily editorial reading.
Do not skip the typed Descriptive paper: 3 questions for 30 marks in 30 minutes covering email, situation analysis and report/precis writing. Practise typing structured, error-free answers under time pressure.

No. As per the official advertisement CRPD/PO/2026-27/09, there is no sectional cutoff in the Preliminary Examination. Category-wise merit lists are drawn on aggregate Prelims marks to shortlist about 10 times the vacancies for the Main Examination.

The Mains comprises an objective test (170 questions, 200 marks, 3 hours) followed immediately by a typed Descriptive paper called Communication Skills - 3 questions for 30 marks in 30 minutes covering an email, a situation analysis and a report or precis. Answers must be typed on the computer.
For each wrong answer in the objective tests (Prelims and Mains), 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question is deducted as penalty. No penalty is applied for unattempted questions.
Phase-I Prelims marks are only qualifying and are not added to the final merit. Phase-II (Main objective + descriptive, out of 230) and Phase-III (Group Exercise & Interview, out of 50) are normalised to 75 and 25 respectively out of 100. The final merit list is based on the aggregated normalised marks of Phase-II and Phase-III.
UR / EWS: 6 chances; OBC and UR (PwBD) / EWS (PwBD) / OBC (PwBD): 9 chances; SC / ST (including PwBD): no restriction. Appearing in the Main Examination is counted as a chance; the Preliminary Examination is not counted.
Yes. Candidates in the final year / semester of graduation may apply provisionally, but they must produce proof of having passed graduation on or before 30.09.2026 if called for document verification / interview.
There are 1,500 vacancies under Advertisement CRPD/PO/2026-27/09. The application fee is Rs. 750 for UR / EWS / OBC and NIL for SC / ST / PwBD candidates.
