Everything you need to know about the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) — Class X.

The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination for Class X is conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) — a private, national-level board headquartered in New Delhi. The ICSE Class 10 curriculum follows the Group system (Groups I, II and III) and is known for its strong emphasis on English, analytical subjects and application-based learning.

What is the ICSE exam pattern?

ICSE Class X has three subject groups: Group I (compulsory — English with 2 papers, a Second Language, History & Civics, Geography), Group II (any two of Mathematics, the Sciences, Economics, Commercial Studies etc.) and Group III (any one skill subject such as Computer Applications). Most papers are 80 marks; Computer Applications is 100 marks. In 2022 the ICSE exams were held in two semesters (40 marks each) because of the pandemic.

No. ICSE is a conventional descriptive/objective board examination without negative marking.
