The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is a state-government centralized entrance examination conducted annually by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). It serves as the primary gateway for admission into undergraduate programs in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy, and Architecture across prestigious state universities, government engineering colleges, and top private engineering institutions across West Bengal, most notably Jadavpur University, Calcutta University, MAKAUT, and Kalyani Government Engineering College (KGEC).

1. Who Can Attend WBJEE? (Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications)

Candidates aspiring to take WBJEE 2026 must fulfill the following statutory requirements laid down by WBJEEB:

Age Limit

Candidates must be at least 17 years old as on December 31st of the admission year. There is no upper age limit for engineering courses (except Marine Engineering, which has an upper age limit of 25 years).

Educational Qualification

Passed or appearing in Class 12 / Higher Secondary (10+2) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or Computer Science.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

General: Minimum 45% aggregate marks in 3 compulsory subjects.
SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / PwD: Minimum 40% aggregate marks.
English: Minimum 30% marks in Class 12.

Domicile & Quota

West Bengal Domicile candidates are eligible for 85% state quota seats in government institutions and fee concessions. Non-domicile candidates can compete for 10% AIQ seats in state universities and all private college seats.
