Kabaddi originated in ancient India as an exercise in breath control (pranayama), quick reflexes, and grappling strength. A raider must repeatedly chant the 'cant' (“Kabaddi-Kabaddi”) in a single breath while tagging defenders and returning safely across the midline. Kho-Kho, played since ancient times in Maharashtra, is a high-speed chase game that tests running endurance, dodging, and split-second team coordination as sitting chasers spring to life on the shout of “Kho!”.
